Job Summary

The Collection Management System (CMS) Unit Head will lead the strategic and operational management of the museum’s collections data and digital infrastructure. This role is

responsible for ensuring alignment with international standards and enhancing public access to the museum’s collections through innovative digital solutions. The CMS Unit Head will play a pivotal role in shaping collection documentation, digitization, and access strategies to support the museum’s mission and public engagement objectives.

Job Scope

• Oversee the administration, customization, and optimization of the museum’s Collection Management System (CMS), ensuring data integrity and compliance with legal and industry standards.

• Lead digitization initiatives and develop online access strategies to broaden public engagement with the museum’s collection.

• Develop and implement documentation policies and procedures that align with national and international regulations and best practices.

• Manage cross-functional collaboration with curatorial, conservation, and technical teams to support collections care, documentation, and access initiatives.

• Provide training and ongoing support to internal stakeholders, ensuring effective use of the CMS and adherence to documentation protocols.

• Liaise with external software providers and partners to monitor system performance, facilitate updates, and drive continuous improvement of digital infrastructure.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience in managing museum collections and CMS platforms (such as KEEMu or similar systems).

• Strong understanding of documentation standards (e.g., SPECTRUM) and legal frameworks relevant to collections management (e.g., GDPR, copyright law).

• Demonstrated success in leading digitization projects and enhancing digital access to museum collections.

• Excellent communication and training skills, with a track record of effective cross- functional team leadership.

• Relevant academic background in Museum Studies, Collections Management, or related disciplines.
